Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction: Further to WPQ 9487, has the Minister tasked officials to assess how many empty earthquake-prone buildings are projected to be empty in New Zealand by a certain date, so that that terms like "significant" and "increasing" can be measured against the status quo, and, if so, will these numbers be made public?

Hon Chris Penk: I have not asked officials to inspect every earthquake prone building in New Zealand to ascertain if they are empty or not. This would require extensive resources and would not be in the public interest.
