Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence: Does she stand by her statement “With 1 in 3 women and 1 in 8 men experiencing sexual violence at some stage in their lifetime, it’s important that we acknowledge victims, take action to stop people using violence, highlight where people can get help and reinforce the government’s commitment to progress on all these issues,” if so, does she support the Sexual Violence Legislation Bill?

Hon Karen Chhour: Yes, I stand by my statement. I supported the Victims of Sexual Violence (Strengthening Legal Protections) Legislation Bill at first reading and await the report of the Justice Select Committee after they have finished their consideration of the Bill.
