11390 (2026). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister for Energy: Has the government assessed whether any of NZ's fuel purchase contracts have been affected by the Force Majeure declarations cascading through our supply chain?

Hon Shane Jones: Force majeure provisions are standard commercial clauses that sit within individual contracts between buyers and sellers. The Government does not oversee the operation of these contractual arrangements. At this time, fuel suppliers are not reporting systemic disruptions to fuel supply into New Zealand, and there has been no change to the current settings under the National Fuel Plan.
