11366 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: How many, if any, search warrants have been actioned related to gang members or gang associates since 27 November 2023 to date, broken down by district?

Hon Mark Mitchell: This data has been collated from Operation Cobalt. Operation Cobalt commenced in Tāmaki Makaurau on 13 June 2022 and followed in the remaining districts on 27 June 2022. I am advised that between 24 November 2023 and 9 May 2024, Police has executed 174 search warrants and conducted 72 warrantless searches in relation to gang members or gang associates. I refer the Member to the attached maps, which show results achieved per district between 10 November to 23 November 2023 and 26 April to 9 May 2024. It is noted that non-gang related searches may be included due to the automation of data capture.
