11364 (2026). Scott Willis to the Minister for Energy: What advice, briefings, reports, or any other document, if any, has the Minister received on the impact of the proposal to build an LNG terminal on businesses intentions to invest in firming or peaking, listed by title and date?

Hon Simon Watts: I have received no advice specifically on this topic. In general terms, I have received advice that an LNG terminal will enable the importation of LNG to fuel existing and new gas generation units. In winter 2024 there was a shortage of gas for generation, which exacerbated the shortage of water for hydro generation.
