11325 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Finance: What is the inflation rate used for projecting future education spending?

Hon Nicola Willis: Demand-driven expenditure forecasts produced by the Ministry of Education do not incorporate a specific inflation rate. Forecasts operate on a price by volume basis. Price, which includes funding rates or teachers' salaries, are only adjusted for cost pressures if funding is allocated by Cabinet (not forecast). While there are forecasted changes in growth within the sector across time, these changes are not related to inflation.
