11317 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister for Resources: Further to WPQ 6180, are any other government funds, including the Regional Infrastructure Fund or fast-track related funds, if at all, available for baseline environmental studies, plume modelling, or offshore exploration surveys?

Hon Shane Jones: Public research institutions are funded to improve our understanding of New Zealand’s oceans and seafloor through mechanisms such as the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment's Endeavour Fund and Research Programmes funding. I am unaware of any Government funds intended to support private or commercial baseline environmental studies, plume modelling, or offshore exploration surveys.
