11288 (2024). Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Prime Minister: Does he stand by his statement “Well, I'll just say to you again, you know, what we've got is we will use consultants where we need to actually upskill teachers”, and if so, how many consultants are needed per year?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: Yes. For the new structured literacy programmes, the Ministry is unable to provide a number of required providers and facilitators. Providers employ different numbers of facilitators and structured literacy programme delivery will take a blended approach (face to face and remote synchronous). The flexibility of delivery means that providers will adapt delivery for efficiency based on the volume of demand for their programmes. The Ministry will also expand the number of approved providers and programmes available from 2025.
