11280 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: What input, if any, did he seek and receive from South Island Iwi and Te Waka a Māui me Ōna Toka Iwi Forum on his decision to remove the Fishing Related Mortality Limit for sea lions?

Hon Shane Jones: The Fishing Related Mortality Limit for SQU6T expired under the previous government. I am advised that Fisheries New Zealand provided Te Waka a Māui me Ōna Toka Iwi Fisheries Forum members with consultation material on the squid trawl fishery (SQU6T) Operational Plan at a hui held on 23 March 2023. No feedback or submissions were received from South Island Iwi or the Iwi Forum.
