11255 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Is helping clients manage legal risk and develop strategies, plans and actions to address these risks an Oranga Tamariki frontline service, and if not, why not?

Hon Karen Chhour: The definition of a ‘frontline service’ is an operational matter for Oranga Tamariki. I am advised that Oranga Tamariki considers frontline services to be those provided by staff directly to children and families. While Oranga Tamariki solicitors provide valuable support to social workers in carrying out their statutory functions, they do not provide direct services to children or families.
