Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction: Further to WPQ 9487, has the Minister tasked officials to find out how many empty earthquake-prone buildings there currently are in New Zealand, so that terms like "significant" and "increasing" can be measured against the status quo, and, if so, will these numbers be made public?

Hon Chris Penk: I have not asked officials to inspect every earthquake prone building in New Zealand to ascertain if they are empty or not. This would require extensive resources and would not be in the public interest.
