11096 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction: Further to WPQ 9487, can the Minister confirm there are 553 earthquake-prone buildings and 49 earthquake-prone apartment buildings in Wellington, as of 18 April 2024?

Hon Chris Penk: I have been advised that as of 17 April 2024 there were 553 earthquake-prone buildings, inclusive of 49 apartment buildings, within Wellington City Council’s territorial authority area. I understand that these figures were referenced by the media on 18 April 2024.
