11033 (2024). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: How many Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle registered owners, if any, have been notified of the requirement to pay Road User Charges on their vehicle, and by what mode was such notification, if any, given?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that NZTA sent an initial notification of the upcoming changes to Road User Charges (RUC) to the 76,764 people who were the registered person for a Plug-in Hybrid or Electric Vehicle in January/February 2024. A further notification was sent to 83,358 registered persons in late March 2024. The notifications were sent via email where an email address was held within the Motor Vehicle Register, or by post if only a physical/mailing address was held.
