Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What instructions, if any, has the Minister given to each of the Minister’s Departments, Ministries, and Agencies, to reduce headcount in order to achieve cost-savings since 27 November 2023 to the week of Monday 29 April and what is the specific nature of those instructions?

Hon Simeon Brown: Through the Budget 2024 Initial Baseline Exercise, all agencies have been asked to review their baselines to identify efficiencies, areas of low value expenditure and to ensure expenditure is aligned to Government priorities. Budget 2024 advice and decisions will be released on Budget day and will remain confidential until that point.
