10914 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: In response to Question 7495 (2024), what alternative measures or strategies, if any, does the Minister propose or support to effectively mitigate these impacts and ensure the conservation of sea lions?

Hon Shane Jones: I support the mandatory deployment of Sea Lion Exclusion Devices (SLEDs) in the southern squid trawl fishery (SQU6T) and the non-regulatory measures implemented by industry.
