10867 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Implement Hira, a user friendly, integrated national electronic health record, to the agreed level, ensuring the expected benefits of the investment are achieved, and taking all practicable measures to ensure that project milestones are met’ under section 3.7 ‘Strengthening our system enablers’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the October - December 2023 quarter, Health New Zealand continued to progress My Health Account; the Hira Connector Plane; the National Events Notification Service, and the NZ Health Terminology Services. I am further advised that My Health Account now enables an approved delegate to access another person’s account, and the Hira Connector Plane is currently in production. In addition, the National Events Management Service has been piloted. It enables notification of data changes from one system to other systems, such as a patient’s change of address or their presentation to an emergency department. The NZ Health Terminology Service is Health NZ’s one-stop source of the standard terminologies and code sets for the health system and is constantly being extended.
