Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Deliver the approved capital projects that are underway, taking all practicable measures to ensure that project milestones are met and anticipated benefits realised’ under section 3.7 ‘Strengthening our system enablers’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that 73 in-flight health sector capital projects with funding over $10 million or funded from the Health Capital Envelope were progressed during the October – December 2023 quarter. These projects had a combined value of $6.6 billion as at 31 December 2023. I am further advised that during the quarter, three projects reached practical completion: • Scott Building (Clinical Block) recladding, Middlemore Hospital • MidCentral Surgical Procedural Interventional Recovery expansion • Whanganui Hospital Infusion Therapy Unit
