10852 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Identify actions to achieve 25 percent reduction of category-2 emissions by 2025, including Te Whatu Ora designing an energy efficiency programme by 2023 and an LED lighting conversion programme’ under section 3.7.4 ‘Action on climate change’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the October -- December 2023 quarter, four energy efficiency projects and one LED lighting application were approved as part of Health New Zealand's $99 million Energy Transition Programme. This programme is partly funded through the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority’s State Sector Decarbonisation Fund, and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from stationary energy by 25% (23,000 tCO2e) across all Health NZ properties.
