10837 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Train the healthcare workforce on supported decision-making and informed consent processes and implement inclusive practices in models of care, for example, NZ Sign Language interpreters, hoists and sensory reduction, using e-technology’ under section 4.3 ‘Health of Tāngata whaikaha | Disabled people’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the October - December 2023 quarter, the disability strategic function was established within the Office of the Chief Executive of Health New Zealand, and a suite of education and resources were made available nationally to uplift organisational capacity and capability to understand, approach and respond to disability. I am further advised that a Disability Capability Framework was implemented across Health NZ during the quarter, with teams in all business units contributing to workforce education and capability and informing future plans.
