10695 (2024). Scott Willis to the Minister for Energy: Has the Minister reviewed “Te Kore, Te Pō, Te Ao Mārama | Energy Hardship: The challenges and a way forward - Energy Hardship Expert Panel Report to the Minister”, and if so, are any of the recommendations slated for implementation?

Hon Simeon Brown: Yes. Ensuring households have secure and affordable energy is one of my top priorities. I have read the Panel’s report some of the findings are helping inform MBIE’s advice to me on household energy costs, affordability, and energy hardship. While the Government won’t be formally responding to the report, I note that there is already work underway in the energy portfolio relating to some of the Panel’s findings. For example, the Electricity Authority is mandating the Consumer Care Guidelines and improving consumer choice in plan comparison and switching.
