10679 (2024). Lan Pham to the Associate Minister for the Environment: Is the Minister considering lowering the Maximum Acceptable Value for any determinands in drinking water?
Hon Andrew Hoggard: No. The Maximum Acceptable Values (MAV) for drinking water are set out in the Water Services (Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand) Regulations 2022. This legislation is administered by the Department of Internal Affairs, and so the responsibility for setting the MAV sits with the Minister for Local Government.
