Hon Judith Collins: As a Crown Research Institute, NIWA’s staffing and capability decisions are a matter for its independent board of directors whose statutory responsibilities under the Crown Research Institutes Act 1992, include operating in a financially responsible manner so that NIWA maintains its financial viability while fulfilling its purpose. Ultimately the Government is committed to meeting their climate targets.
