10616 (2024). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many Kāinga Ora projects and how many community housing projects have been cancelled, if any, since 27 November 2023?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that five Kāinga Ora projects have been cancelled since 27 November 2023. A Kāinga Ora project is considered “cancelled” if it had started planning to deliver homes on its own land and decided to not progress with any further work. Kāinga Ora also advises me that as at 31 March 2024 it has almost 1,200 projects contracted or under construction to deliver about 6,500 new homes. At any one time, they have a range of projects underway, some will be paused, some will be built, some will be going back to the drawing board. I am advised by Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga - the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development that there have been no Community Housing Projects cancelled by Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga - the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development since 27 November 2023.
