10609 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: Further to responses to oral question 4 on March 13th will he commit to working with Australia on the creation of a marine protected area to allow the region to recover and if not why not?

Hon Shane Jones: An assessment of the encounter will go to the SPRFMO Scientific Committee, which will make recommendations to the SPRFMO Commission on an appropriate management response. New Zealand will work with Australia, amongst other SPRFMO members, in this process.
