10595 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: What feedback on gang laws did he get at the meeting in Canberra with the state Ministers?

Hon Mark Mitchell: The feedback I received at the several meetings had in Canberra was overwhelmingly positive and reflected the success that Australian jurisdictions are finding with their laws. One particular piece of feedback I would like to highlight for the Member, given her party's support for the Bill, is the feedback around laws similar to the Gangs Legislation Amendment Bill that I received from the Western Australian delegation. I was told that a senior gang leader had that day decided to hand in his patches because he had had enough of the tough laws adopted in Western Australia.
