10561 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education
Written Question
Published date: 24 May 2024
10561 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: Will he ensure that under the reforms announced to the Ka Ora, Ka Ako programme on 8 May 2024, that quality and nutrition of the meals provided to students will not be compromised; if not, why not?
Hon David Seymour: The Ministry of Education, with advice from the expert advisory group, will work through an open tender process to source supplier(s) for the alternative provision model.
The range of food on offer will depend on the supplier(s) selected, and nutritional value of the food will be considered in the tender process. Schools and kura will be able to select foods based on their preference, facilities and capacity.
