10461 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: Does the Minister intend to introduce any legislative changes in response to the postal voting vulnerabilities exposed by the Papatoetoe subdivision of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board election; if not, why not?

Hon Simon Watts: The Justice Committee is undertaking an Inquiry into the 2025 Local Elections. The inquiry will examine local electoral law and administrative procedures. I look forward to receiving the Committee’s recommendations at the close of the inquiry.
