10460 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Prior to last week’s changes, were schools that wanted to ban cell phone use unable to do so?

Hon Erica Stanford: Prior to the new regulations, schools could ban cell phones under section 126 of the Education and Training Act 2020. The Act states a board may make bylaws that they think are necessary or desirable for the control or management of the school, provided the staff, students and school community are consulted.
