10435 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Have any legal proceedings been filed against Te Whatu Ora regarding proposed changes to health services; if so, what is the current status of each of them?

Hon Simeon Brown: Our Government is focused on delivering timely, quality healthcare for all New Zealanders. This requires finding efficiencies within our health agencies to ensure a tight focus on the delivery of frontline care. As the Member will be aware, the PSA Union has actively campaigned against our Government's efforts to strengthen frontline health services by addressing the substantial growth of bureaucracy in recent years. I am advised that the PSA Union has initiated six legal proceedings, four of which have been suspended. Additionally, I understand that since January 2025, a legal matter has been lodged concerning the previous government's amalgamation of the former District Health Boards into Health New Zealand.
