10383 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: Does he stand by his statement “I set myself the goal as the incoming minister to immediately stop these gang members taking over our public spaces,” if so, why haven’t we seen an immediately stop of gang members taking over public places?

Hon Mark Mitchell: Yes, I do. The answer lies in the previous Government's approach, which was to claim that Kiwis felt safer while gang membership went up over 70 per cent. It is early days, but I am encouraged by the positive feedback that I receive from the public.
