10303 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister for Biosecurity: Is Biosecurity NZ committed to eradicating caulerpa brachypus in Aotearoa New Zealand's waters; if not, what is the goal of the agency for the invasive seaweed?
Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised that Biosecurity New Zealand has been, and is, committed to doing everything feasible to reduce the spread and impact of exotic Caulerpa in New Zealand’s waters, and remove it where possible. This approach is informed by scientific and technical advice and has been consistent since the initial detection and confirmation of Caulerpa brachypus in New Zealand.
