10277 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Implement a nationally consistent system of data capture, analytics and intelligence that supports the use of health intelligence and insights to ensure equity of access and outcomes from all health services across Aotearoa’ under section 1.4 ‘Strengthening the use of health insights and intelligence’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the October - December 2023 quarter, Health New Zealand completed Stage 1 and 2 of the National Data Platform (NDP); a nationally consistent system of data connection that supports the use of health intelligence and insights to ensure equity of access and outcomes from all health services across New Zealand. Preparatory work also began for Stage 3. In addition, I am advised that the Health Data Analytics Council has been formed and meets regularly. The Council has a stewardship role for data and information across the health system. A key part of the Council’s role is to improve the governance maturity over collection, access, storage, and use of health system data.
