10274 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Engage with HUD, Kainga Ora, and MSD on options to ensure that people with enduring mental illness and addiction problems can access sustainable housing’ under section 2.1 ‘Pae ora Better health in our communities’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the quarter October – December 2023, Health New Zealand successfully engaged with Kainga Ora to progress an MOU that will maximise outcomes for Health NZ and Kāinga Ora whānau and communities. I am further advised that Health New Zealand worked with the Ministry of Health to actively support the emergency housing review process, and the development of services in Hamilton and Wellington. I am further advised that Health NZ engaged with Housing and Urban Development to secure funding for the delivery of the two Rapua Te Āhuru Mowai services (in Hamilton and Auckland) for a further two years via the Homelessness Action Plan contingency funding. Work is underway to recontract the Rapua Te Āhuru Mowai services for a further two years.
