10272 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Develop a national plan to reduce the threat of antimicrobial resistance’ under section 2.1 ‘Pae ora Better health in our communities’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that while no specific work was progressed on this action during the October - December 2023 quarter, an update of the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) action plan will be progressed by the Infection Services Network in partnership with the Public Health Agency, and Ministry of Health. Associated work is underway to harmonize antibiotic guidelines and provide multi-drug resistant organism screening tool to hospitals.
