Written Question
Published date: 21 May 2024
10262 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October – December 2023 to ‘Implement national pathways to access transport and accommodation to support the equitable completion of cancer treatment’ under section 2.3 ‘Mate pukupuku | People with cancer’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Te Pae Tata: Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that between October 2023 and December 2023, contracted providers continue to deliver cancer care coordination services across New Zealand.
I am further advised that part of the funding for these services helps support whānau who encounter barriers to travel for treatment and appointments; for example, by paying for taxi, flight or accommodation costs.
In addition, for further actions I refer the Member to Written Parliamentary Question 5258 (2024).
