10258 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Does the Minister agree with Dr Sarah Aiono from Longworth Education that in relation to structured literacy that we should not put all our eggs in one basket; if not, why not?

Hon Erica Stanford: It is my expectation that all state schools will teach foundational literacy skills using proven structured literacy approaches. Within this expectation, schools will have a choice of provider. The Ministry of Education will contract a range of quality assured suppliers to provide professional learning and development (PLD) for structured literacy approaches. Schools can choose which PLD best suits their needs, subject to provider availability.
