10219 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister for the Public Service: Is the Pay Equity Funded Sector Framework still being used for pay equity claims in the funded sector; if not, why not?

Hon Nicola Willis: As part of the pay equity reset, Cabinet has removed the funded framework which provided for staged oversight and governance of pay equity claims brought by employees to their non-government employers. The removal of the framework is about making clear that bargaining should occur between employees and employers, as required under the Equal Pay Act. It does not prevent pay equity claims being brought or progressed in the funded sector. The Government remains committed to pay equity and continues to have funds set aside, including in tagged contingences for settlements in both the public and funded sectors.
