10134 (2025). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: What is the Minister doing, if anything, to specifically support the increase in the need for mental health and addiction services, necessary with growing homelessness in central Auckland?
Hon Matt Doocey: Our Government is focused on delivering timely, quality healthcare for all New Zealanders. I am advised that mental health and addiction services are available through the Youth Homelessness Hub ‘The Front Door’, Central Auckland Rapua Programme, and primary mental health services through general practice clinics and clinics that support homeless people, for example, the Calder Health Centre at the Auckland City Mission. For alcohol and other drug addictions, the Auckland City Mission is funded for a 15-bed social withdrawal service located at their Homeground site in central Auckland City and the Haven Crisis Café in Central Auckland.
I recently announced the expansion of the Crisis Café model with a further six new Crisis Cafés being developed across New Zealand over the next 18 months.
