10099 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Tourism and Hospitality: What surveys or polling, if any, have been commissioned by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, the organisation commissioned to conduct the survey or poll, the subject matter, the date commissioned, and the total cost?
Hon Louise Upston: As Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, I have no responsibility for any government departments or Ministries. With regard to Crown entities under the Tourism and Hospitality portfolio, I am advised that Tourism New Zealand conducts a wide range of primary consumer market research and data analysis to evaluate how best to market New Zealand as a visitor destination internationally, assess the visitor experience, and stay aware of emergent trends, opportunities and shifts in behaviour. This research informs the Tourism New Zealand work programme and future activity in international markets. Tourism New Zealand publishes research to ensure the wider industry have access to this. Research is also conducted to assess the benefits and impacts of tourism on New Zealand and New Zealanders’ perceptions of tourism. Tourism New Zealand also conducts a survey of key external stakeholders at the end of each financial year to measure organisational performance to get a stakeholder rating of Tourism New Zealand’s performance.
