10041 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Prime Minister: How much, if anything, did the Minister's departments, if any, budget for Starlink goods or services in the 2025 calendar year, and how much, if anything, has been spent so far this year?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the Responsible Minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is a departmental agency hosted by DPMC. I am advised that for the 2024/25 financial year, NEMA has budgeted $230,000 for satellite connectivity initiatives through Starlink Ltd. This funding will support the administration of a national data pool for the Emergency Management Sector to bolster resilient connectivity. As of 14 March 25, $1,239.02 (including GST) has been spent with Starlink Ltd for hardware activation to support select testing. The budget for the 2025/26 financial year has not been finalised.
