Camilla Belich to the Minister of Education: What staff engagement, morale, or culture surveys, if any, have been conducted by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, date conducted, the organisation that administered the survey if external, and the overall engagement or satisfaction score reported?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry has not conducted any staff engagement, morale, or culture surveys since 27 November 2023. The Ministry encourages all staff to participate in Te Taunaki | the Public Service Census, data of which is publicly available at: https://www.publicservice.govt.nz/data/public-service-census I am advised that the New Zealand Qualifications Authority ran an Employee Engagement Survey in February 2025. Responses to the engagement questions are as per the attached document. Education New Zealand has conducted the following staff engagement surveys since 27 November 2023: • November 2025: 70 percent overall engagement score (90 percent participation) • May 2025: 81 percent overall engagement score (94 percent participation) • May 2024: 75 percent overall engagement score (87 percent participation) • November 2023: 72 percent overall engagement score (87 percent participation) I am advised that the Education Review Office has conducted one culture survey over the requested period. • Commissioned: 26 August 2025 Organisation responsible: Sarah Burke Psychology Services Ltd As it was a qualitative survey, an overall engagement or satisfaction score cannot be reported.
