9948 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What surveys or polling, if any, have been commissioned by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, the organisation commissioned to conduct the survey or poll, the subject matter, the date commissioned, and the total cost?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: I am advised that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade commissioned three surveys over the period in question. These were: The Partner and Stakeholder Survey 2025/26, commissioned from Verian in December 2025 at a cost of NZ$41,943 excluding GST; the Satisfaction Survey of Consular Clients 2024/25, also undertaken by Verian and commissioned on 31 January 2025 at a cost of NZ$26,916.50 excluding GST; and, the Satisfaction Survey of Consular Clients 2025/26, which was carried out internally by MFAT personnel from 1 February 2026 at no direct commissioning cost. The Asia New Zealand Foundation, as part of its research programme on New Zealanders’ perceptions of and connection to Asia, has commissioned several surveys and polls since 27 November 2023: In 2023/24, this included the Ipsos Perceptions of Asia survey (October 2023; NZ$81,200). In 2024/25, commissioned work included the Ipsos Perceptions of Asia survey (November 2024; NZ$81,800); a Research New Zealand mini‑poll on China and U.S. developments (March 2025; NZ$2,800); a stakeholder survey by independent research and insights consultant (October 2024; NZ$18,735); and Blackbox Research’s Southeast Asian Perceptions of New Zealand survey (May 2025; SGD 27,795). In 2025/26, the Foundation commissioned Ipsos’ Perceptions of Asia survey (December 2025; NZ$79,000), along with two Research New Zealand mini‑polls, one related to the Perceptions of Asia survey (November 2025; NZ$6,000) and one related to Pacific perceptions (January 2026; NZ$7,100). I am advised that Antarctica New Zealand has commissioned no surveys over this period.
