Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the last quarter (October - December 2023) to ‘Establish and network data governance councils’ under ‘Horizon One’ of the Data and Information Strategy for Health and Disability: Roadmap 2021-2024?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised during the October - December 2023 quarter, no progress was made towards establishing data governance councils. This work was not pursued because Health New Zealand's direction is to operate data governance at a national rather than local level. I am further advised that the established groups Data Governance Group of Health NZ, Ministry of Health and Te Aka Whai Ora; the FPIM Data Platform Governance Group, and the Northern Region Data Custodians maintain links through some common memberships and information sharing.
