9884 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Further to WPQ 5644, what progress, if any, has been made in the last quarter (October - December 2023) on health promotion work programmes concerning 'Nutrition and physical activity'?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in the October - December 2023 quarter, the health promotion work programme concerning nutrition and physical activity progressed several initiatives. These included: • Continuing Active Learning in partnership with Sport NZ and the Ministry of Education, which supports education settings across New Zealand to provide an environment that promotes healthy food and drink. • Partnering with the Public Health Agency and Te Aka Whai Ora to complete a joint submission to Food Standards Australia New Zealand on proposal P1062: Defining added sugars for claims. • Continuing to develop strategic relationships with key partners to inform the future direction of the nutrition and physical activity work programme.
