Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister for Land Information: What processes, if any, will be implemented to ensure transparency in decision-making when the Minister for Land Information or a local authority is both promoting an infrastructure project and responsible for adjudicating land acquisition objections in the proposed amendments to the Public Works Act?

Hon Chris Penk: The proposed replacement objection process will be set out in legislation. This includes giving landowners the opportunity to comment on any submission an acquiring agency provides in the process. Neither the Minister for Land Information nor Land Information New Zealand, which will provide advice to the Minister, have responsibility for the construction of any critical infrastructure.
