Camilla Belich to the Minister of Health: What contractor or consultant engagements, if any, are currently active across any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible, where the individual contractor or consultant is being paid at a rate exceeding $200 per hour, listed by department or entity, role or engagement description, daily or hourly rate, and contract start date?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised the Ministry of Health currently has 24 contractors and/or consultants providing services to the Ministry with rates exceeding $200 per hour. I refer the Member to the attached table. I am further advised that providing the Member with this information for Health New Zealand would require Health New Zealand to undertake a substantial manual collation exercise and divert staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210-6, I consider that the time, and hence the expense, of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest.
