9695 (2024). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Was he aware of Sir Bill English’s role in transferring state houses to community housing providers while Minister Responsible for Housing New Zealand Corporation, when he appointed him to lead the “independent review into Kāinga Ora”, if so, how, if at all, will that previous role ensure independence in the review team’s report?

Hon Chris Bishop: The reviewers were selected by the Government due to their expertise in the relevant subject matters being covered by the review. I have no concerns regarding the reviewers ability to conduct the review independently.
