9648 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What redundancy or restructuring costs, if any, have been incurred by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, the number of positions disestablished, and the total cost of redundancy payments?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: I am advised that, for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, since 27 November 2023, 95 positions have been disestablished through four restructuring processes, and the total cost of redundancy payments equates to NZ$502,139.07.
Since 27 November 2023, the Asia New Zealand Foundation has undertaken a restructure at no additional cost, with the only expense being a fee of NZ$22,500 (plus GST) paid to Hive Workplaces. No positions were disestablished, and there were no redundancy payments.
For Antarctica New Zealand, I am advised that a total of 18 positions have been disestablished within the Scott Base Redevelopment project, with redundancy payments amounting to NZ$94,769. Within the organisation’s core business, a further eight positions have been disestablished, with total redundancy payments of NZ$249,088.
