9614 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Corrections

9614 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Corrections: What redundancy or restructuring costs, if any, have been incurred by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, the number of positions disestablished, and the total cost of redundancy payments?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections considers a person to be made redundant if a staff member’s employment is terminated following the disestablishment of their position and they are paid severance. Redundancy only occurs where there is no suitable reassignment or redeployment opportunity for the affected staff member within Corrections.
I am also advised that since 27 November 2023, 12 people at Corrections have been made redundant, with four of these being voluntary. The total cost of restructuring over the same period was $294,755.
As there is only one additional redundancy since my response to WPQ 56000 (2025), the total cost has been withheld as the difference between the two figures would likely breach the privacy of the staff member involved.
