9603 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Associate Minister of Education: How will the Minister ensure all areas receive quality early childhood provision ensuring equity for all?

Hon David Seymour: The current early learning regulatory system is preventing the delivery of affordable and accessible services to caregivers and children. To address this, I intend to reduce the regulatory burden within the early childhood sector so that early childhood professionals can focus on the education and care of children. The Government is making changes that repeal Network Approval provisions and will stop new Person(s) Responsible requirements coming into effect later this year. These changes will make it easier to establish new early childhood services and make it easier for existing services to operate, especially for those in rural areas and lower socio-economic areas, and Māori and Pacific immersion and bilingual services.
